Here you will find the most complete line of industrial cameras for imaging applications, mainly artificial vision cameras but also cameras for other purposes. Specifically, in this section we focus on area scan cameras (2D matrix image) without advanced image processing functions. Let's say they are "dumb cameras" (as opposed to smart cameras) in which the subsequent processing of the image will require software (either self-developed or commercial).
When selecting the right machine vision camera, the first thing to do is determine the need to use a color sensor if this feature is necessary. A monochrome sensor (black and white) will increase the contrast and effective resolution of the image and are the most used.
The resolution of the camera will be a primary element but let's not go crazy. An increase in resolution will entail, in addition to the logical increase in cost, a lower image acquisition rate per second (fps, frames per second). In certain applications it may be useful to increase the acquisition rate at the cost of reducing the resolution of the sensor through sub-windows: use only part of the sensor to lose resolution and gain in fps. Some cameras also allow "binning": joining several pixels into one to increase sensitivity by reducing resolution again.
Also keep in mind that increasing the resolution and the fps rate will imply the need for greater calculation and data management capacity of the control system to which the camera is connected. Although we can offer you cameras with sensors from 0.3 MP to 150 MP in resolution, we recommend fine-tuning the resolution necessary for the application.
Another relevant point when selecting a model will be the choice of shutter type. For applications in motion, it is recommended to use Global Shutter (more expensive) while Rolling Shutter will be valid for applications when stationary or where the movement is slow enough, for example the usual movement of a person's gestures.
If you need high resolution, high image acquisition speed and global shutter, prepare your wallet.
In addition to the usual USB3 or GigE (Gigabit Ethernet) connectivity, we also offer 10GigE, CoaXPress (CXP) or CameraLink on models for the most demanding data transfer applications.
